Who are you?

Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Colton, a field reporter for A.S.S. Have you heard of us?

We're not friends.

Wonderful! Looks like we're making progress in the popularity front! Readership must be up! Chariste will be pleased. She sent me here.

What for?

We intend to be the first to announce new monster findings. Who warned you that cute little white rabbits could be dangerous? We did. Who warned you about tall, one-eyed, bipedal humanoids carrying clubs? We did. Who broke the news about flightless chickens running amuck? We did!

So what is a monster?

You pose an interesting philosophical question, friend. I think there are all kinds of them. I once met the most hideously deformed man alive who had the most thoroughly expressive mind I have ever encountered. Some called him a monster, but beautiful women practically lined up to offer HIM marriage proposals.

Mortos himself is described by women who've seen him as breathtakingly handsome, but we all know what he's capable of. We call him a god, but could he be considered a monster? Certainly his minions are. They're easy enough to spot, but I'm on the lookout for new monsters.

Chariste

She is my editor and boss. If you're ever in Idaloran City, you should look her up. Maybe she'll give you a tourEL-DB.com of the Association's headquarters. Be sure to say hi to Terry for me, too. I haven't seen my friend in so long.

Terry

He does some of the statistical work for the newspaper. You know, the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep a business running and booming. He's a friendly guy and he's helped me out of a pickle more than once. Speaking of Pickle, have you met him?

New monsters?

In my line of work, it's either publish or perish. While that kind of thinking is short-sighted and unfortunate, it is the nature of the publishing business. I've tracked down blatant lies, half-truths, rumors, and drunken fairy tales all in hopes of finding a truly new monster to report.

Isn't that dangerous?

You bet it is. I've trained myself to be careful and diplomatic, but if push comes to shove, I can take care of myself too, thanks to Gazhanar.

Why do this?

If you mean why does the paper do this? I'd have to say just to sell more papers. But, if you're asking why I do this? It's because it is my sincere hope that what I may someday find and write about will save the lives of those who have read my story. I believe in the power of knowledge.

Who is that?

Ahhh maybe you missed my story about Gazhanar. He's usually at the summoning arena. I interviewed him and we got to talking about whether or not I was prepared. So, he summoned some monsters and I learned whether or not I was ready. With practice, I have gained valuable insight.

Pickle

Yeah I met him for the first time recently, and boy, he has more questions than I do... and I'm a reporter! *He looks slightly shocked* I was talking to Gazhanar about him the other day, and he said Pickle is here on some top secret mission. Hm, I wonder if he knows about some new creature living in the area that could pose a possible threat. I'll have to look into it! *He gets all excited*
