About Harvesting
Harvesting is the collection of flowers, minerals, ores, and other resources for use in other purposes such as mixing or food.
Because of the simplicity of the skill, you only get experience for the first 120 harvests you do in a game hour. You must be logged in to the game when the game hour changes for that counter to be reset to get more experience.
You can get up to 160 harvests with 2 special perks ("Dedicated Harvester" and "Smart Harvester"), but consider the negatives for Dedicated Harvest (more mini-events) before taking it, and Smart Harvester requires a lot of harvesting before you can take it, among other things.
Tools and Items
You may need to wear a pickaxe, leather gloves, or saw in order to harvest some items, as seen on the list on this page.
High-level valuable ores also require you have an item in your inventory to harvest them. You lose the item with each harvest, so you need one of that item for every item you harvest.
Double Harvest
With each harvest, you get 1 of the item you're harvesting. With some of the lowest-level plants, you get 2.
If you wear an Excavator Cape (or get the Excavator perk), you'll get 2 items with each harvest (4 for those low-level plants that normally give 2), cutting the time needed to stock a harvestable item in half.
The Cape/Perk do not work on high-level ores that require special items like swords to harvest.
Needed Nexus
No Nexus are needed for plants, wood, branches, sulfur, or coal, so you can get started in harvesting immediately with no problem.
Inorganic - You'll need anywhere from 1 to 6 Inorganic Nexus for all other minerals and ores, as well as dung and yew.
Leveling Harvesting
Leveling in this skill is done by harvesting items.
No God: The goddess Lucaa is not in the game, so you cannot worship her to get bonus experience.
Special Day: Day of Aleksei Stakhanov is a common special day since players can start it with a special stone. On this day you get 3x the normal harvesting experience, regardless of where that experience comes from.
Harvesting Daily Quest: Xaquelina in Portland offers a daily harvesting Quest where you gather harvestables and give them to her for bonus experience.
Dung Daily Quest: Kaleb in Tarsengaard offers a daily Quest where he'll give you harvest experience based on your level when you give him 100 dung. You do not have to harvest the dung yourself. As long as you have 300 EMU to carry it, you can buy it from other players or the many bots nearby.
Tutorial Quest: A tutorial Quest exists for Harvesting, in which you harvest pretty much every item in the game for bonus experience. Several other quests also provide harvest experience.
